LET'S GO WITH ESCO AGAIN IN 2010!!
Thanks to all who walked with TEAM JARNAGIN for ALPS. It was a great time for a great cause. Good to see TEAM BRITTAIN there as well!
Saturday evening was the concert with Cody McCarver. Let me just say that I am a fan. He is such a talented performer. My favorite song is definitely "I'm America". If you haven't checked out his music, definitely do so. He's pretty fabulous!
TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY!!! The polls will be open until 8:00 p.m., so you will have plenty of time after work to cast your vote to RE-ELECT YOUR SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN!! I think by this time most people know who they are going to vote for when they go to the polls tomorrow. If you are still undecided it comes down to qualifications and character. Sheriff Esco Jarnagin is a man of character and is best qualified to continue as our Hamblen County Sheriff. If you haven't done so, check out the qualifications and accomplishments of Sheriff Jarnagin posted on this blog. Compare this to his opponent and decide for yourself. TEAM JARNAGIN has run a clean positive campaign because we have a candidate with qualifications and accomplishments that we can promote. I do not appreciate the negativity aimed at the character of my father-in-law. Statistics are statistics, and facts are facts, and that's ok. Slander is slander and that's not ok. I'm looking forward to 8:00 p.m. tomorrow when the polls close and this election is over. May the best man win. That man is ESCO JARNAGIN.
VOTE PROVEN LEADERSHIP, VOTE QUALFICATIONS, VOTE INTEGRITY. VOTE TO RE-ELECT YOUR SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN!! LET'S GO WITH ESCO AGAIN IN 2010!!!!!

SHAME ON YOU
I received a text forward today from a friend and found it seriously disturbing. The text mentioned an illness of a deputy and stated that Sheriff Jarnagin had not contacted the person who is ill to express his concern. Then it promotes Sheriff Jarnagin's opponent. The text was unsigned. Shame on you, whoever you are, that started this text. I find it disgusting that anyone would use someone's illness for political gain. The text does request prayer for the ill person. My prayers and my family's prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.

UPTOWN DOWNTOWN!
TEAM JARNAGIN had a great time last night at the Mainstreet Festival. It was hot, hot, hot! The band was really great. I always enjoy the Mainstreet Festival. It's a fun community event. It's always great to see Sheriff Jarnagin's supporters out and about. We also enjoy meeting new folks and informing them why they should vote to re-elect Sheriff Jarnagin. We gave away quite a few yard signs and T-Shirts. Thanks to all who support loud and proud! It was Chief Deputy Wayne Mize's wife Sharon's birthday, and she chose to help with the event. Thanks and love you Sharon! We also handed out flyers promoting the upcoming campaign rally and FREE CONCERT FEATURING CODY MCCARVER. I'm so looking forward to this event coming up July 31st at 4:00p.m.! See you guys there! Also don't forget that this coming week is the last week to EARLY VOTE. Remember, YOUR VOTE COUNTS! Make yours count to RE-ELECT ESCO JARNAGIN!

*HONESTY* INTEGRITY* ACCOUNTABILITY*
These are what Sheriff Esco Jarnagin promised the citizens of Hamblen County when he was elected in 2006. These were not just words spoken, but promises kept to the people who elected Esco Jarnagin. Sheriff Jarnagin's opponent would have you to believe that the high turnover rate at HCSD is indicative of lack of leadership. In fact, it's the opposite. Someone made a quote at our last HCRW meeting. It went something like this, "Sometimes you have to crack a few eggs before you get an omelet." I like this quote. Sheriff Jarnagin has kept his promise to provide Hamblen County with accountability and transparency under his administration by not tolerating waste or corruption. Esco Jarnagin is the best qualified candidate to continue to serve as our Sheriff. His qualifications listed on the side bar of my blog are not requirements to maintain his position. Esco Jarnagin is a graduate of ETSU with a degree in Criminal Justice. Putting himself through college and raising a family while working full time shows the commitment and love he has for law enforcement. Sheriff Jarnagin is committed to Hamblen County because he loves his community and wants to see our children educated and raised in a safe environment. By the way, I need to change the Accomplishments post to read, 30 METH LABS BUSTED TO DATE. Kudos to the officers at HCSD for working together to keep these folks out of our neighborhoods and behind bars! Sheriff Jarnagin has made progress within the Hamblen County Sheriff's Department! Let's work together to make sure this progress continues for the betterment of Hamblen County! GET OUT AND VOTE!! LET'S GO WITH ESCO AGAIN!

VOTE REPUBLICAN! VOTE JARNAGIN!
We had our Hamblen County Republican Women's meeting last night. Over 1600 people had voted as of yesterday. Not sure what the totals are of today. Recently, I was nominated and accepted the role of Corresponding Secretary with the Hamblen County Republican Women. I am excited about this role and serving my club in this capacity. I am a proud Republican and feel that as a party we are not only promoting Republican candidates, we are promoting THE BEST, MOST QUALIFIED candidates in our local and state elections! These are exciting times!! I encourage all of you to VOTE REPUBLICAN and VOTE TO RE-ELECT YOUR SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN!!!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
In defense of my father-in-law's character, I felt I needed to post the following:
I will AGAIN reiterate that TEAM JARNAGIN will continue to run a positive, clean campaign. I guess I should rephrase myself and say "try" to run a positive, clean campaign. This will get a little negative, my sincere apologies, but enough is enough. I'm sure most of you received Ernie Burzell's mailout. Let me first say that our last name is spelled J-A-R-N-A-G-I-N. Let me also say that, naturally, burglaries and thefts are up because the economy is down. Learned that in my sociology class. So here's the negative. Mr. Burzell's allegations that the campaign has been financed with drug money are unfounded and pure slander. Seriously?! It's obvious that Mr. Burzell's uneducated allegations have no merit and I will not address those. Ernie Burzell doesn't list qualifications, education, or anything at all to promote himself in this mail out or at any other time. If he was as concerned with statistics and public safety and he says he is, he would have made more than 6 arrests in 4 years... That's public record folks. Mr. Burzell states that he will be a "proactive leader" at the Hamblen County Sheriff's Department. This would be believeable save for this: (You will have to copy and paste. My apologies for not being able to provide the link) http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/jun/04/teen-testifies-ex-hamblen-deputy-lift-shirt/ . This is an article published in the Knoxville News Sentinel. As Dexter Morris's supervisor, disciplinary action should have been taken and correctly reported through the chain of command. This would have been the "proactive" approach of a leader. I will not attack Ernie's character. The mail out and article speak volumes. You will probably continue to hear the negativity from the other camp. As for Team Jarnagin, will continue to promote the best qualified candidate to continue to serve as your Hamblen County Sheriff and provide facts only. It is our civic duty to be informed of the candidates we cast a vote to elect. It matters who governs. In the words of Forest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."

Discounting his opponent is not necessary because Sheriff Jarnagin has promotable qualifications and accomplishments. Through this blog, hopefully, I have informed the citizens of Hamblen County of the qualifications, accomplishments, and character of Esco Jarnagin. Remember, your vote counts! FUN WEEKEND
My friend Taryn from Greenville, SC came to town this weekend. Though Taryn has supported from afar, she officially donned a shirt and campaigned with Team Jarnagin! Thanks, Taryn for supporting loud and proud! We had a fun weekend catching up and she caught a glimpse of how hard we are working. We put out several requested signs over the weekend. It's not too late!! If you need a sign, please shoot me an email at votejarnagin@yahoo.com and we will see that you have one. If you would like to show your support by helping knock on doors please also let us know. Share with your friends that you support the most qualified candidate, Esco Jarnagin! Thanks to all who have helped and are currently helping with the campaign. I have posted some pics of Taryn's visit and some others from the past few weeks. See you soon!

Happy 4th of July!!
Sheriff Jarnagin and family would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July!! Remember: FREEDOM ISN'T FREE! Thanks to our veterans and our troops serving overseas who continue fighting for the freedom that we all enjoy. I encourage everyone to reflect upon this today and enjoy the freedoms that we have. We have a right in this country that many others have died for: THE RIGHT TO VOTE! Exercise this right that so many have given their lives to protect. Early voting begins July 16th with the General Election taking place on August 5th.
It has come to my attention that there has been some exchange of email stating that the neighborhoods of Hamblen County are not safe because there are only two road officers on the road at any given time and that the Sheriff operates on a budget of more that $2 million dollars higher than the previous budget with less staff and a high turnover rate. These are the same accusations made during the debate.
First of all, the information and mud-slinging provided by Sheriff candidate Ernie Burzell is false. For those of you that have HCSD calendars you can look at the pictures. In the Alpha, Bravo, Charlie units, there are 4 officers. In the Delta unit, there are 5 officers. Yes, I'm sure if there is leave taken, someone is sick, this can leave 2 officers on the road. HCSD collaborates in these instances with the City of Morristown. Rest assured that your neighborhoods are a safer place because 29 working meth labs have been busted to date. As many of you have read in the Citizen Tribune, Sheriff Jarnagin tried for some time to obtain a roster from the Civil Service Board so that he could promote and hire new officers that were desparately needed to operate the HCSD. When no roster was provided, Sheriff Jarnagin made those hires because HE IS CONCERNED WITH KEEPING OUR COUNTY SAFE! The budget is higher, because costs are higher. Mr. Burzell fails to mention that when Esco Jarnagin was elected that he petitioned the County Commission for 4 new officers. After this was approved, 2 of the officers were assigned the backlog of 8k warrants left from the previous admistration. Warrants are now served in a timely fashion. When the women's annex opened, 8 new officers were hired. The salaries of deputies are not king's ransom. In order to be in law enforcement, it must be a love of the person. Sheriff Jarnagin demands accountability, integrity, and professionalism from his deputies. If someone cannot uphold these qualities, can they adequately uphold and enforce the law? Daily operations, employee salaries, new equipment, and many more things account for the increased budget. Is it so bad that our law enforcement has adequate funding????
I'll leave you with this quote, "It Matters Who Governs." Can someone protect your civil rights if they are not sure what the term "civil rights" means??? That being said, we are trying to run a positive campaign. My blog is not to discount anyone, but to inform the citizens of Hamblen County of the accomplishments and qualifications of Sheriff Esco Jarnagin. Vote qualified. Vote proven leadership. VOTE TO RE-ELECT YOUR SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN.

FOURTH FRIDAY FUN!
TEAM JARNAGIN set up a tent last Friday downtown at the Fourth Friday event. We had a great time!!! The food was great, the music was awesome and the people of Hamblen County are wonderful. What a great town we have! Thanks to all who stopped by and grabbed a bottle of water, took a yard sign, T-Shirt, button, or just expressed their appreciation and support for Sheriff Esco Jarnagin. These are some pics from the event.

GREAT JOB ESCO!
The debate last Thursday was interesting. Sheriff Jarnagin's opponent Ernie Burzell did not answer two of the ten questions presented by CFA. Several of the other questions were not addressed, but were used as a platform for mud-slinging. The end results were clear. Sheriff Jarnagin is still the most qualified candidate to serve the citizens of Hamblen County. Team Jarnagin appreciates all who attended the event and the support that has been shown. The debate was a great night for Sheriff Jarnagin and the Republican party as a whole. Let's keep it up!! Early Voting will be here soon and August 5th before we know it!!!! If you missed the debate, you can check it out at the Morristown Hamblen Citizens for Accountability website.

THE GREAT DEBATE
The Morristown-Hamblen Citizens for Accountability will be hosting a debate between the Hamblen County Sheriff Candidates Esco Jarnagin (R) and Ernie Burzell (D). as well as the Hamblen County Mayor Candidates Bill Brittain (R) and John Litz (D). June 24th is the date, so mark your calendar. This is something you will not want to miss. The debate starts at 6:00 p.m. and will be at the West Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department meeting room. The event is free of charge and open to the public. See you there!!
Saturday, June 12, 2010
As many of you know (thanks for the phone calls of support) a lot of Sheriff Jarnagin's campaign signs were vandalized last week. This is very unfortunate. I normally don't post anything negative on my blog, but felt the need to address this issue. The picture above is just down the road from where I live. I'd like to say that I commend Sheriff Jarnagin for running a clean and positive campaign. I would hope that none of Sheriff Jarnagin's supporters would ever engage in this type of behavior and vandalize an opponent's sign. These signs cost a lot money and are the property of the candidate.
UPDATE
We had a great time last weekend at the Repbulican Women's Annual Picnic Friday the 4th. There was great Barbeque with all the fixin's! All of the local candidates spoke as well as Phil Roe and representatives from the Gubernatorial candidates. It was a fun time of good food and fellowship. Saturday night we attended a fundraiser for Don Miller who is running for State Representative. Between these two events we were pounding the pavement and campaigning hard!! TEAM JARNAGIN has been out and about the community to make sure Hamblen County knows the qualifications and accomplishments of Sheriff Esco Jarnagin. Keep it up. Thanks for all of the continued support!!

I haven't posted in a while due to hitting the campaign trail hard! We have the General Election coming up in August and have been jam-packed this past month with family events and working hard on the campaign. More to come this weekend with lots of updated pictures and what TEAM JARNAGIN has been doing. Thanks to all who are a part of TEAM JARNAGIN and continue to support loud and proud! Let's keep working hard to make sure SHERIFF JARNAGIN IS RE-ELECTED! Also the Hamblen County Republican Women are hosting their Annual Summer Picnic tomorrow at Cherokee Park at the Horner-Daughtery Pavillion. Sheriff Jarnagin as well as the other local Republican candidates will be in attendance. Also present will be Gubernatorial candidates Ron Ramsey, Zach Wamp and representatives of Bill Haslam. Tickets are $15. Hope to see you there!!

WAY TO GO!!
Congratulations to Sheriff Esco Jarnagin for winning the Republican Primary!!! The overwhelming support that Sheriff Jarnagin received is sincerely appreciated. Esco Jarnagin received more votes than all of the other sheriff's candidates combined. Thanks to everyone who helped to make the primary a success! Thanks to Team Jarnagin who knocked on doors, worked at the polling locations, made phone calls, sent emails, etc! Your hard work has paid off! I believe this shows Hamblen County appreciates and continues to support Sheriff Jarnagin in his accomplishments. It shows the citizens want someone who is qualified, honest, and has proven abilities. We will continue working hard to see that Esco Jarnagin continues to serve as the Sheriff that Hamblen County can be proud of. He has promised and delivered accountability, professionalism and integrity within the HCSD. Let's continue working hard to see that Sheriff Jarnagin is re-elected in the general election on August 5th!!

LET'S GO WITH ESCO AGAIN!!
Tomorrow is the big day. May 4th is here! Thanks to everyone giving up their day to work the polls for Sheriff Jarnagin. I've said this before, but the whole reason behind this blog is because I fully support and believe in my father-in-law. He has proudly served the citizens of Hamblen County for the last four years with professionalism, integrity, and accountability. He will continue to serve proudly and deliver a Sheriff's Department that focuses on the protection of our county. Hamblen County is a great place to call home. I encourage you as you head to the polls tomorrow to Vote for the MOST QUALIFIED candidate to continue to serve as our Sheriff. VOTE TO RE-ELECT SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN!!! Your vote counts in the Republican Primary!
P.S. These are some more pictures I dug out of the archives. They are of Sheriff Jarnagin receiving an award as an employee of the Morristown Police Department and one testing a polygraph machine. 38 YEARS of APPLIED LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT is just one of many reasons Sheriff Jarnagin is the MOST QUALIFIED candidate. See you at the polls!

SERVING OUR COUNTRY
I decided to move this photo from the sidebar to a post. It amazes me that Sheriff Jarnagin was only 19 years old when this photo was taken in Korea. I think about how naive I was at 19, attending the University of Tennessee without much responsibility or cares. I applaud my father-in-law for volunteering for military service with the Army during the Vietnam War. Sheriff Jarnagin was fortunate to be sent to Korea instead of the jungles of Vietnam. It is because of the men and women who volunteer their services to our country that we are able to express our opionions on candidates and ulitmately participate in elections. What a wonderful country we live in. Thank you Sheriff Jarnagin and all Veterans for your service to our country.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF SHERIFF JARNAGIN
Since taking office, Sheriff Jarnagin has made many improvements that better serve the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Hamblen County . Some changes made are: 1) re-certified the jail and retained this certification; 2) created a warrant team that resolved over 4,000 of the 8,000 inherited unserved warrants; -- warrants are now served in a timely fashion-- 3) established full-time narcotic and vice teams that achieved great success in busting “meth houses” and arresting drug dealers and users; 4) assigned an officer to the FBI’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) unit to combat the transportation of drugs from Mexico and Atlanta; 5) equipped all officers with bullet proof vests, taser guns, and in-car video cameras; 6) saved taxpayers over $100,000 yearly by persuading the state of Tennessee to increase payment for housing state inmates in our jail; 7) saved tax payers thousands of dollars by developing a new, workable commissary for the jail, 8) re-established the GED program; 9) launched the first female inmate roadside litter pick-up detail that, in conjunction with the men, collected over 2,124,240 pounds of litter last year alone; 10) instituted measures to enhance court room and court house security; 11) developed rank structure for jail employees that enhances professionalism, accountability, safety, and security; 12) transferred responsibility of inmate transport and other escorts to jail employees so patrol units are free to patrol neighborhoods and protect citizens; 13) sought compensation for housing illegal immigrants which resulted an average of over $14,000 save for us the taxpayers yearly ; 14) continued to provide funeral escorts for citizens’ loved ones free of cost, 15) designated an officer to investigate medical claims thus preventing pay out of illegal claims.
This and much more has been done during the past four years that Esco Jarnagin has served as your Hamblen County Sheriff. He has a successful proven track record for helping to keep Hamblen County a great place to live. VOTE TO RE-ELECT YOUR SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN! Remember...early voting is only 6 days away!

38 YEARS!
Here's another picture from the archives! There was a riot at the jail in the early 1970s. Sheriff Jarnagin is assisting in getting one of the injured to the hospital. Counting his present term as Sheriff, Esco Jarnagin has 38 years of APPLIED LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT! He has served our county well during this time. Make sure the most qualified candidate continues to serve as our Hamblen County Sheriff! Early voting is just a few days away. Cast your vote to RE-ELECT SHERIFF JARNAGIN!

HAPPY EASTER
The Jarnagin Family hopes everyone and their families had a Happy Easter! I didn't post yesterday or Easter Sunday as I spent every moment possible with my family! I am so thankful that we live in a country where we are free to worship our Risen Saviour as we choose. These photos aren't campaign-related, but are of my son Hank and our family spending Easter together.

BUSY DAY
Today was a busy day! Sheriff Jarnagin and I headed out this morning to a pancake breakfast at Applebees to benefit Relay for Life. Pancakes are one of my favorite things. These guys got it right. Needless to say, I was a member of the clean plate club!!
Next, we headed off to the Grand Opening of the Hamblen County Republican Headquarters. The headquarters is officially up and running. Most of the other Republican candidates running for the offices of Trustee, Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, County Mayor and State Representative were there.
After this, it was off to the Daily Bread. Sheriff Jarnagin had lots of Easter Eggs left from the Easter Egg Hunt at Fred Miller Park. He took those to accompany the baskets that were handed out today to the children. I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Chesney (Kenny Chesney's father). Mr. Chesney contributes and supports the Daily Bread and Food on Foot. A visit to the Daily Bread makes one realize how much you have to be thankful for. Daily Bread is such a wonderful place that gives back to our community. If you have any extra money laying around, they operate solely on donation and I'm sure would appreciate your support! The children all left happy with their Easter goodies! The pics above are from today at the Daily Bread.
