SERVING OUR COUNTRY
I decided to move this photo from the sidebar to a post. It amazes me that Sheriff Jarnagin was only 19 years old when this photo was taken in Korea. I think about how naive I was at 19, attending the University of Tennessee without much responsibility or cares. I applaud my father-in-law for volunteering for military service with the Army during the Vietnam War. Sheriff Jarnagin was fortunate to be sent to Korea instead of the jungles of Vietnam. It is because of the men and women who volunteer their services to our country that we are able to express our opionions on candidates and ulitmately participate in elections. What a wonderful country we live in. Thank you Sheriff Jarnagin and all Veterans for your service to our country.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF SHERIFF JARNAGIN
Since taking office, Sheriff Jarnagin has made many improvements that better serve the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Hamblen County . Some changes made are: 1) re-certified the jail and retained this certification; 2) created a warrant team that resolved over 4,000 of the 8,000 inherited unserved warrants; -- warrants are now served in a timely fashion-- 3) established full-time narcotic and vice teams that achieved great success in busting “meth houses” and arresting drug dealers and users; 4) assigned an officer to the FBI’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) unit to combat the transportation of drugs from Mexico and Atlanta; 5) equipped all officers with bullet proof vests, taser guns, and in-car video cameras; 6) saved taxpayers over $100,000 yearly by persuading the state of Tennessee to increase payment for housing state inmates in our jail; 7) saved tax payers thousands of dollars by developing a new, workable commissary for the jail, 8) re-established the GED program; 9) launched the first female inmate roadside litter pick-up detail that, in conjunction with the men, collected over 2,124,240 pounds of litter last year alone; 10) instituted measures to enhance court room and court house security; 11) developed rank structure for jail employees that enhances professionalism, accountability, safety, and security; 12) transferred responsibility of inmate transport and other escorts to jail employees so patrol units are free to patrol neighborhoods and protect citizens; 13) sought compensation for housing illegal immigrants which resulted an average of over $14,000 save for us the taxpayers yearly ; 14) continued to provide funeral escorts for citizens’ loved ones free of cost, 15) designated an officer to investigate medical claims thus preventing pay out of illegal claims.
This and much more has been done during the past four years that Esco Jarnagin has served as your Hamblen County Sheriff. He has a successful proven track record for helping to keep Hamblen County a great place to live. VOTE TO RE-ELECT YOUR SHERIFF ESCO JARNAGIN! Remember...early voting is only 6 days away!

38 YEARS!
Here's another picture from the archives! There was a riot at the jail in the early 1970s. Sheriff Jarnagin is assisting in getting one of the injured to the hospital. Counting his present term as Sheriff, Esco Jarnagin has 38 years of APPLIED LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT! He has served our county well during this time. Make sure the most qualified candidate continues to serve as our Hamblen County Sheriff! Early voting is just a few days away. Cast your vote to RE-ELECT SHERIFF JARNAGIN!

HAPPY EASTER
The Jarnagin Family hopes everyone and their families had a Happy Easter! I didn't post yesterday or Easter Sunday as I spent every moment possible with my family! I am so thankful that we live in a country where we are free to worship our Risen Saviour as we choose. These photos aren't campaign-related, but are of my son Hank and our family spending Easter together.

BUSY DAY
Today was a busy day! Sheriff Jarnagin and I headed out this morning to a pancake breakfast at Applebees to benefit Relay for Life. Pancakes are one of my favorite things. These guys got it right. Needless to say, I was a member of the clean plate club!!
Next, we headed off to the Grand Opening of the Hamblen County Republican Headquarters. The headquarters is officially up and running. Most of the other Republican candidates running for the offices of Trustee, Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, County Mayor and State Representative were there.
After this, it was off to the Daily Bread. Sheriff Jarnagin had lots of Easter Eggs left from the Easter Egg Hunt at Fred Miller Park. He took those to accompany the baskets that were handed out today to the children. I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Chesney (Kenny Chesney's father). Mr. Chesney contributes and supports the Daily Bread and Food on Foot. A visit to the Daily Bread makes one realize how much you have to be thankful for. Daily Bread is such a wonderful place that gives back to our community. If you have any extra money laying around, they operate solely on donation and I'm sure would appreciate your support! The children all left happy with their Easter goodies! The pics above are from today at the Daily Bread.

JULY 23, 1975
This picture on the front page of the Citizen Tribune shows Sheriff Jarnagin (on the left) being introduced as one of the Morristown Police Department's motorcycle patrolmen. Check out the price of the newspaper, 10 cents!! Sheriff Esco Jarnagin was born and raised in Hamblen County. His experience actually now totals 38 years (since serving as your Sheriff for the past 4) in LOCAL law enforcement. Let's vote for qualifications, experience and accomplishments!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits.
Take care of your garden and keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine, kind words, and kind deeds.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
My friend, also named Megan, has this poem on her blog. I just thought I would share. It's very upbeat and cheery. It brightened my day, hope it brightens yours as well!
